“HOPE” Tee to Benefit Organization Aimed To Provide Public Awareness and Education of Suicide MAY 11, 2010

Los Angeles, CA (May 11, 2010) – KC Tees (www.KCTees.com) – a company with a message and a mission, has partnered with Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE) (www.Save.org) – a national, nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent suicide and reduce the stigma associated with suicide in an effort to bring forth awareness and education – for Suicide Prevention Week.
According to SAVE, suicide is a public health crisis that is the 11th leading cause of death in the United States with one suicide occurring on average every 16 minutes. Suicide is also the 3rd leading cause of death among 15-24 year olds and the 2nd leading cause of death in the 25-34 year old age group.
Many who have experienced this frightful tragedy often hide it from their friends, loved ones and community. Sadly, many survivors of suicide loss never talk about it in open conversation. It is for this reason SAVE is committed to the education of the general public about the depressive brain diseases (such as clinical depression and bipolar illness) that can result in suicide if left untreated. By educating the general public about such brain diseases, SAVE strives to remove the stigma associated with these diseases.

The KC Tees “HOPE” tee supports SAVE’s efforts to help spread awareness of suicide, and its prevention across communities all over the world. Throughout the entire month of September, 15% of the proceeds from the sale of the “HOPE” tee will benefit SAVE.org.

“After I experienced the heartbreaking loss of a young family member who tragically took his own life, I realized the importance of suicide awareness,” said Karen Crawford, CEO & Founder, KC Tees. “Suicide is a major public health problem and with more awareness, understanding and treatment, it can be averted. My hope is that anyone who’s been touched by suicide in some capacity will help support our efforts.” ??

“SAVE is honored to be the benefiting charity from KC Tees’ efforts,” said SAVE’s Executive Director Dan Reidenberg. “The company’s desire to be involved in helping raise awareness of suicide and prevention programs is really amazing, given so many businesses shy away from this topic. KC Tees is breaking the stigma of mental illness through offering a true message of HOPE in their products and the funds they raise will do just that – give hope to those who need it most.”

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Having been founded by sisters Karen Crawford and Liza Elliott-Ramirez, who grew up in New York City’s East Harlem, it was only natural they chose to align with the Room to Grow organization in an effort to raise awareness to an area from which they hail.

By teaming up with Room To Grow, KC Tees is allowing customers to “give back” and support babies who are less fortunate. Starting on May 1, 2010 and throughout the entire month, KC Tees will donate 15% of the proceeds from every “Mama” tee sold; Expecting Models will then donate a baby onesie for each of the “Mama” tees sold, respectively.

”We are so grateful that KC Tees and Expecting Models has chosen Room to Grow as the beneficiary of this exciting initiative,” says Lexy Mayers, Executive Director of Room to Grow in New York. “The funds raised are so important to our work. And the families we serve will be thrilled to receive the adorable onesies for their little ones!”

“We are so excited to be partnering with Room To Grow this Mother’s Day,” said Karen Crawford, CEO and Founder of KC Tees. “The organization’s mission to help parents and their babies is close to my heart. And, this endeavor is a perfect opportunity for KC Tees to give back, by being part of those who help ensure a healthy and secure start!”

Adds Liza Elliott-Ramirez, Founder of Expecting Models, “what Room To Grow is doing is so important! Every baby deserves to have a chance in the most critical stage of their dev2elopment, and we are thrilled to be a part of this effort!” To help support this cause, please visit www.KCTees.com and purchase a “Mama” tee for you or a loved one. About Room to Grow

Room to Grow is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of babies born into poverty throughout their critical first three years of dev2elopment. Parents expecting a baby are referred to Room to Grow by a selected group of prenatal programs serving low-income parents throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Upon their referral, parents visit Room to Grow’s warm and inviting space every three months from just before the birth of the baby until the child turns three.

During their one-on-one appointments with a clinician, typically lasting two hours, parents select new and nearly new clothing, toys, books, and other baby essentials, free of charge, and receive information and support to ensure their child’s healthy and secure start in life. Room to Grow began out of the recognition that every parent raising a child in these early years needs information, support, and all the essential items for their growing baby; and that every child deserves the opportunity to have basic needs met, to learn and grow, and to reach his or her fullest potential. Room to Grow was founded in New York City in 1998, and in 2004 expanded to a second site in Boston, Massachusetts. For more information, visit www.RoomToGrow.org.
